sandi/angel/lover : Yep, I knew David was married. I'm also looking forward to his new series. Anyway, one reason you seemed to be not getting responses for a while is that there's "VIPs" in the area. Plus, it helps to join existing conversations and address specific people. Check out my links below for more.

Angle Newbie : VIPs actually rarely come on (other than Erika Amato and RD, who do their best). Also, we can never predict when they'll show.

XanderVamp : Yeah, it's interesting. When Spike and Drusilla came along and were evil, everyone loved them. But when Faith comes along and has issues of neglect, possibly abuse and feelings of inferiority, everyone hates her, even though the writing and the situations are just as well done and thought provoking. ... Maybe more so.

Everdawn - If they added a 9 year old cousin and did something interesting with it, fine. Joss uses characatures and adds twists and real character to them. He stops short of Melodrama the same way.

I'm a Doctor Who fan, so continuity ain't that big a thing in the show. It's when in a season they destroy a character by rewriting it for no really good reason and destroy a possibly interesting arc.

If they added an angel, would it be that different than having demons run around fighting for good? What if the angel was more kickbutt than Spike, the Master, Kendra, and Faith all put together? You know, like how the archangels used to be written like.

It ain't the tricks, it's how they use them. As long as they are being honest, fair, and not deceitful or manipulative towards the audience, I have very little problems. Get the emotions honestly, great. If they stop having depth to the storys, any character development, and keep using the same stupid writer tricks done on every other series known to man, and do it for a couple of seasons with no hope for a return of the qualities we've seen, then I will quit watching.

There were only a couple of interesting discussions that I saw. Elizabeth Well hello. A pleasure to see you here. Sorry that Your name dose not come out on the name line. Eliza name is password protected so It messes up Elizabeth. But it is still a joy to have you here.

Then I'll take my hiatus until a week after the last episode of the season and do my final season ending analysis. I'm sure you'll all wait with baited breathe (which must smell aweful I would think).

So to show that I'm not just a gloomy gus, let's just look at the good things in season three. First, the coming of age/rite of passage stories. These three alone set this season up to above average. In each a major character is brought alone into a new light and maturity. Unfortunately, only Buffy's character still keeps those characteristics. Hopefully, that will change in season four.

Next is Buffy's character development. From Anne to Helpless, Buffy is not only accepting being the Slayer but couldn't think of herself as anything else. Well done and about time. Angel is also being setup well for his spinoff. Since this is only of the good, we'll skip their relationship angle but give Kudos for the relationships and problems with Xander/Cordy and Oz/Willow. Very well handled and believable.

The writers haven't gone for the easy characterization in Joyce. She easily could have become an annoying interfering Mother instead of the supportive person she's been so far.

They've making the ASH fans very happy, turning Giles into very much the sex symbol. Better clothes, better lines, more action, more bad boy background, and ASH still doing a great job as Giles.

I feel they did a reasonably good job getting back from Becoming by the time of B&TB. Buffy wasn't immediately accepted back and she was not just forgiven for running away or hiding Angel in Revelations. They did try to work through her feelings and those of the gang. While it didn't always make for the most riveting TV ever, it didn't just ignore the issue or have it settled in an episode. A big plus in the season arcs.

The use of self referencing is fun for us Obsessive Fan types, but too much will wear thin. Each of the episode has a solid theme behind it and generally they work that theme pretty well into the story. For the most part the characterizations have been well done, if not the way I would have liked them to go.

Finally, I have to say that Faith was a fun character. Different than the rest of the gang and lively. She had many problems and they weren't understated. Eliza did a great job bringing Faith to life. I wish her the best in whatever she does next.

I won't post any more negatives right now. I've covered the main ones and will not bother you with some of the nitpicky ones, most of which are purely personal taste. I'll just say that I haven't read anything to change my mind that this season is above average and not great as the past two. Which, in any series, ain't bad. Most would wish for just one above average let alone two great.

But you do have the right to be wrong and disagree with me.

PDR - I discovered a hiking trail close to where I live. Today's the first time I've been on it. It's a 20 mile (32 Km) trail one way. Needless to say I didn't make the whole trip. I walked about 7 miles in and then had to get back to my van. You've got me beat. Six hours is the most I've hiked. And that was up a mountain in New Mexico last summer. And I'm a flatland East Texan. Thought I was going to die, but I made it to the top. I don't have a backpack yet, still new at this. But I suspect I will have one before too long. Especially if I ever want to complete this new trail.

Thanks for telling me that Little Willow is a teenager - not that I have anything against teenagers of course - I was one myself once, but I'll be careful not to de-purify her too much.
